Services Offered
Diet, nutrition and lifestyle coaching/counselling:
Dr. Cundari believes that diet and what we are putting in our bodies is the foundation for good health. She has past experience working as a personal trainer and has a passion for educating patients on how they can get the most from their diet. She also has done extra training in counselling and can help provide you the tools to make reasonable changes to your lifestyle depending on your goals and needs. Nutraceutical supplementation: It would be ideal to get all of our nutrients from our food; however sometimes we do not always get everything our body demands. Dr. Cundari is trained to recognize nutritional deficiencies and can prescribe supplementation based on each individual’s needs and requirements when needed.
Sports Medicine (Soft tissue mobilization and spinal manipulation):
Growing up playing sports, Dr. Cundari has had her fair share of injuries, which fuelled her love for sports medicine. She has always been passionate about learning new ways to treat chronic pain and understand the body on a deeper level. She is trained to treat all different kinds of injuries, from chronic to acute. She utilizes all of the modalities that Naturopathic Medicine has to offer to help aid in healing time, maximize human performance, and reduce injury recurrence. She is trained to work with soft tissue and is also trained to perform spinal manipulation when needed.
Botanical Medicine:
Using botanical medicine involves using plants or the medicinal extracts isolated from plants to treat certain conditions and support the body’s process to heal. Herbal medicine has been used for thousands of years and now there is a significant body of evidence out there to support the uses of these plants. Dr. Cundari will sometimes use herbal medicine on its own, or she may combine it with other modalities to achieve the best outcomes. She custom blends formulations on-site at her clinic that are specific for each individual patient.
Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine:
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been practiced for over two thousand years and is used to treat a variety of different conditions. Specific treatments that are used in TCM include: acupuncture, cupping, massage, and herbal supplements. Acupuncture involves inserting small needles skilfully into defined places – which helps to stimulate and support the adequate flow of inner “Qi” (the term used to describe the energy or life force that flows throughout your body). Dr. Cundari can design protocols that will allow the body to come back to balance. Acupuncture has many benefits – it can bring back blood flow in stagnant areas, relieve pain, promote relaxation, help with insomnia, balance hormones and help with injury recovery.
Intravenous Nutrient Therapy:
Intravenous (IV) Nutrient Therapy is a great way for Dr. Cundari to deliver nutrients directly into the blood stream of patients. This can be particularly advantageous if someone has compromised digestion – or is just not getting enough nutrients from their diet. Benefits can include: support of detoxification pathways, increased energy, and a strengthened immune system.
Craniosacral Therapy:
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a very gentle, hands-on therapy that helps to regain balance of the nervous system, release pain & tension, and improve neuromuscular dysfunction. It is a therapy that is targeted to resolve the areas of tension and distortion that can form around the brain and spinal cord from previous injury, emotional trauma or physical trauma. During a CST session, Dr. Cundari practices a technique that supports the physiological rhythm of your craniosacral system and is able to detect certain blockages in this body flow. She works with your body to “reset” your parasympathetic nervous system and helps to relieve those blockages to allow your body to return to a more balanced state. Patients have reported feeling extremely relaxed after a session of CST with Dr. Cundari.
Diagnostic Testing:
Laboratory & Diagnostic Testing can be very useful for diagnosing and monitoring specific conditions. Dr. Cundari can give referrals for any LifeLab test. She also offers the following in-house tests:
- Food Sensitivity Testing
- Hormone Testing
- Candida Testing
- Urinalysis
- PAP tests (in coordination with BC Cancer Agency)
- Stool Analysis
Prescriptive Authority:
In the province of British Columbia, some Naturopathic doctors are licensed and certified to prescribe pharmaceuticals. Pharmaceuticals can be used safely in combination with natural health products; which can reduce the amount and need for these types of medication. Dr. Cundari’s training allows her to be able to minimize interactions between medications and natural health products.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Before your first visit:
Finding a Naturopathic Doctor that can be right for you can be a bit like finding a hairdresser. Everyone has their own individual needs and expectations. To ensure that your personal needs and expectations are in line with Dr. Cundari, it can be beneficial to book a free 15 minute meet and greet before your initial appointment so that you can get a sense of what her style is and to see if she can meet your expectations.
Once you book your initial visit, you will be emailed an online intake form and you are asked to fill it out before you come in. There are a lot of questions, but it allows Dr. Cundari to get an in depth overview of what your goals are and allows her to get a quick background on you before you begin the initial visit. Dr. Cundari also requests that if you are currently taking any supplements – to please bring in the labels or take pictures of them so she can see what you are taking. Also, bringing in any current lab work can be helpful.
Your first visit:
Your first initial visit will be 60 minutes in length. This will allow Dr. Cundari enough time to collect pertinent information about your current health concerns. In this first visit, Dr. Cundari will discuss your health concerns and goals, and will take a full medical history along with any focused physical exams that may be needed. Pertinent lab testing will also be discussed at this time. Following your first appointment with Dr. Cundari, she will develop a personalized treatment plan for you in line with what your goals are. Her goal is to make it a plan that is reasonable and attainable for you to follow in the context of your current lifestyle. This treatment plan may include diet & lifestyle counselling, vitamins & supplements, acupuncture, botanical medicine, or other treatments. Follow-up schedules will be discussed.
Return visits:
Frequency of return visits is dependent on the individualized treatment plan and will differ depending on the conditions being treated. This will be discussed in the initial visit.
